The complete version of Urban Songs was premiered by the Letter String Quartet at the Melbourne Recital Centre. The concert was part of the Local Heroes Series, co-commissioned by the Recital Centre and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Urban Songs describes life in an urban environment. Sometimes you’re alone in a crowd, sometimes there’s a lack of privacy; and sometimes you belong to something larger than yourself.

And There I Was Find your own rhythm among the noise of the city, find your place in the sights and sounds. Streetlights and Lost Souls Flickering streetlights stand sentinel over a lonely streetscape at night, home only to the homeless. The Union – The rhythm of the city, the racing of the trains, the tramping of the commuter army, the heartbeats of a million people.

The Silo String Quartet premiered the original version of And There I Was at a Melbourne Composer’s League concert.
