Trumpet Concerto 'Ballad' on Duets album

The ABC have recorded the ‘Ballad’ movement of the Trumpet Concerto for release on a Duets album, featuring pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska and trumpeter David Elton. A video performance was released recently as well.

Tamara-Anna collaborates regularly with the ABC in a variety of roles, including presenting radio programmes and working as a concert pianist on many projects. David has been Principal Trumpet with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra since 2012, and maintains a busy schedule both in Australia and overseas. The ‘Duets 2’ album features music from a diverse range of composers and eras, performed by Tamara-Anna alongside various other artists.

The Concerto was originally commissioned by the ABC as part of the Fresh Start funding initiative, and recorded in a version for trumpet and strings that can be found here. This new release features the trumpet and piano version, suitable for recitals and chamber performances. Both these versions are published by Wirripang. There is also a trumpet and brass band version, premiered and recorded by Victoria Brass with David Elton, conducted by Matt van Emmerik. This version is soon to be published by BrookWright in the UK
