Box Hill City Band premiered the complete version of Letters from Flanders at the Box Hill RSL, as part of a Remembrance Day activities

The piece is inspired by the letters the composer’s grandfather Reg Littlejohns sent home from Flanders during World War One. In this performance, the music was heightened by images and footage produced by the band’s MD, Simon Brown. Some of the most poignant photos were taken by Reg Littlejohns himself

The opening movement has previously been played by Box Hill at the Myer Music Bowl, and Booroondara Brass performed most of the movements at an Anzac Day concert in April 2019. This is the first occasion the entire piece has been performed. Letters from Flanders is published by Brookwright
