ANAM Set Festival

‘A black dog near me’ was given an emotional performance at the ANAM Set Festival. ANAM musician Joel Walmsley and associate artist Peter de Jager gave the music plenty of space amid the Abbotsford Convent surrounds as part of a festival event in which every one of the 67 pieces commissioned was performed.

‘A black dog near me’ explores mental health, and Joel’s expressive playing on flugelhorn was at times like a human voice. The piece is published by Wirripang, and was recorded earlier by the ABC. A video by Marleena Forward featuring the music and interviews with Joel will soon be released by ANAM
