Thugine Legend premiere
Thugine Legend won the inaugural Corbould Composition Prize, and was premiered by the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra (now merged with the Queensland Symphony) conducted by Patrick Strub at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
Thugine Legend follows the indigenous tale of two boys, who follow the hunters to the sea but are turned into stone by the Rainbow Serpent. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra performed it in 1999, 2000, and on a regional country tour. The piece was also included in their educational materials
The work is available from the Australian Music Centre and can be heard here
