Andrew was awarded the inaugural Corbould Composition Prize for Thugine Legend. The winning entry was premiered by the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra (now merged with the Queensland Symphony), conducted by Patrick Strub, at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

Thugine Legend follows the indigenous tale of two boys, who follow the hunters to the sea but are turned into stone by the Rainbow Serpent. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra performed it in 1999, 2000, and on a country tour, and the piece was also included in their educational materials.
