Lyrebird Brass quintet performed excerpts from Melbourne Mosaic as part of their concert on Melbourne Digital Concert Hall. The concert also included music by Eric Ewanzen and Piazzolla, and a heartfelt speech from trombonist Don Immel regarding arts funding and support in these troubled times.

Melbourne Mosaic paints a musical picture of some of Melbourne’s most iconic areas: the War Memorial, Punt Road traffic, shopping in the arcades, the peace of the Botanic Gardens, and the majesty and excitement of the Arts Centre Spire. It written for the Melbourne Brass Quintet, and performed here by members of the University of Melbourne Music Faculty’s brass department as Lyrebird Brass: Joel Brennan and Rosie Turner on trumpets, Carla Blackwood horn, Don Immel trombone, and Tim Buzbee tuba. Tim has already performed The Old House as part of Melbourne Digital Concert Hall.

The Melbourne Digital Concert Hall project was created to raise money for out of work musicians in Melbourne. There have been over 80 recitals to date, based in the Athanaem Theatre and live streamed online.
